Successful business forum concludes in Managua

Members of 24 countries gathered in the Association of American  Chambers of Commerce of Latin America and the Caribbean (AACCLA), concluded in Managua with the most important business meeting, Business Future of the Americas 2017.

Álvaro Rodríguez, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Nicaragua (AMCHAM), explained during the inauguration that this historic event takes place 43 years after Amcham was founded in Nicaragua.

Fourth tripartite agreement has been signed

The agreement establishes an annual increase of 8.25% for the minimum wage of more than 115,000 workers in the free trade zone system.
By 2022, all workers in the free trade zone system, will have a salary above 7,000 Cordobas as a result of the fourth tripartite agreement signed by employers, unions and the government, and covers salary increases for the next five years.

NEW TOURISM INVESTMENT IN SAN JUAN DEL SUR

Presidential Delegate for Investment, General Alvaro Baltodano, participated in the official launch of the first phase of the Tourism Complex La Santa Maria, located at the former site of Hotel Barlovento in San Juan del Sur, on Nicaragua´s southern Pacific coast.

The investment aims to convert San Juan del Sur into a world-class destination with a five-star tourism development.

“NICARAGUA PROCEDURES” AGENCY TO PARTICIPATE IN EUROFERIA 2017

EUROFERIA 2017 will be held May 12th and 13th at Crowne Plaza Convention Center with companies from different sectors. “Nicaragua Procedures” (“Trámites Nicaragua") which is part of the Presidential Delegation for the Promotion of Investment and Trade Facilitation led by Minister of Investment, General Alvaro Baltodano, will be one of the agencies participating to promote the benefits it offers Nicaraguan companies.

NEW EGG PASTEURIZING PLANT

Grupo Industrial El Granjero, a Nicaraguan company dedicated to the development of innovative food products with recognized quality standards, announced the investment of an egg pasteurizing plant for export.

Minister of Investment, General Alvaro Baltodano, visited the plant with project representatives from Grupo El Granjero, noting that this is another example of the confidence that investors have in the country, particularly this group that plans to invest more than US$20 million in the next 4 years.

PROMOTING TOURISM IN NICARAGUA

According to the Central Bank of Nicaragua (BCN), the country received 58% of their tourist influx, from the Central American region followed by the north Americans with 27.7% of the total vacation industry.

The Annual Report that shows results of the Tourism Survey of the year, showed that 2016, was the year with the best economic result of foreign tourism for Nicaragua. Tourism in the country has grown 20.5%, compared to previous years (2014 and 2015), according to figures from the Nicaraguan Institute of Tourism (Intur).

EUROPE EXPLORES MORE INVESTMENTS IN NICARAGUA

Two important leaders from France and Finland, were sent by the European Union for a mission to Managua, to learn about business climate, citizen security, social peace, government-private sector relations, and explore opportunities for investments.

With this vision, this delegation held an important meeting with the National Commission for Exports, headed by the Investment Promoter in PRONicaragua, Laureano Ortega, as well as members of other Associations of the private sector.

General Álvaro Baltodano Meets with former US Secretary of Commerce

General Álvaro Baltodano, Presidential Delegate for Investments, met in march with former U.S Secretary of Commerce, Mr. Carlos Gutiérrez and opinion leaders from that country. The meeting was held to raise awareness of the progress Nicaragua has made in economic growth, investment and trade.

 

The Nicaraguan delegation headed by General Baltodano was accompanied by Ambassador Francisco Campbell, Álvaro Rodríguez, President of AmCham Nicaragua, representatives of the chamber and PRONicaragua.

 

New investment in palm oil will be located in El Rama, Nicaragua.

On an area of ​​6,700 square hectares in the southern Caribbean region, a company from Guatemalan will produce palm oil with an estimated investment of US$44 million in its first phase of operation.

The Guatemalan company, Central Agro Industrial Nicaragüense, S.A. (CANSA), will be located in the Municipality of El Rama, Autonomous Region of the Southern Caribbean Coast (RACS), producing palm oil on an area of ​​7,663 square hectares.

Nicaragua to host American Chambers of Commerce Conference

The American Chamber of Commerce of Nicaragua (AMCHAM), announced that Nicaragua will host an important conference where the 24 American Chambers of Commerce of Latin America and the Caribbean (AACCLA) will convene. The conference, titled “Business Future of the Americas”, will bring together 400 businesspeople from all over the region. The event will take place June 4th  through June 7th in the capital of Nicaragua, Managua.
